Tarryn - Swimwear and Nude Night Photoshoot

This was the first nude photoshoot I ever did, back in 2016. Taryn contacted me through Facebook, back when it was still a thing, keen to shoot some swimwear and implied nude at night, in a pool.

Finding the right location was a little bit of a challenge, but Tarryn had some family friends with a pool that had a bit of a tropical feel to it.

We roped in one of my favourite make up artists I have worked with over the years, Michelle (link to Instagram below).

One of the biggest challenges on any shoot, particularly with a subject I have not worked with before, is getting them to be comfortable in front of me and the camera. The challenges get bigger the sexier the shoot is. The best way I have found is to keep it light and friendly, just shoot something fun to start with so we can get a feel for how each other works.
I also always make it a point to never push any ideas too hard. I’ll suggest something and leave the ball in their court about whether it’s something they’d like to try or not.

Being respectful is super important when shooting, especially when shooting implied and nude. Most people aren’t used to being naked in front of people they have known for 30 minutes. The challenge is to try to get them comfortable enough that in the images it looks perfectly natural for them to be nude.
