Sophie – Swimwear Photoshoot in the Rain

There’s this weird trend that seems to follow me around, whenever I plan a super early morning photoshoot with the aim of getting a bit of the sunrise, it’s always overcast or raining on the day.

This was one of those shoots, in the tail end of summer of 2019 Sophie and I had a plan to shoot some high contrast black and white fashion/swimwear photographs. When it came to the day of shooting, it was raining, so the high contrast concept went straight out the window. We decided to shoot anyway, it was one of those warm overcast mornings with spots of rain and morning thunderstorms. The air had that feeling of electricity and shooting in the rain can be an adventure.

When we started it was just a light drizzle that didn’t last too long, but 30 minutes later the thunder and lighting started in the distance, and some heavier clouds started to pull through. There was this epic moment that the clouds burst in the background, which then rolled over us and we promptly got soaked. Thankfully, it was warm summer rain, so we just carried on shooting.
